The editor-in-chief of the RT news portal, Margarita Simonyan, who is battling cancer, appeared without a wig for the first time at a public event.
Axar.az reports that she attended a solemn ceremony dedicated to the 83rd anniversary of the liberation of Krasnodar from Nazi Germany without wearing a wig.
At the event, Simonyan was awarded the title of “Honorary Citizen of Krasnodar.”
It should be noted that in January, following a course of chemotherapy, Simonyan shared her photo on social media for the first time, which sparked widespread public reaction and numerous messages of support.
In a program she took part in in September 2025, Simonyan said she had been diagnosed with a serious illness and required surgery, and that in December she completed her third course of chemotherapy. According to her, her health temporarily deteriorated after the procedures. Due to a weakened immune system, she has declined to attend several events.
