Azerbaijani wrestlers added two more medals to their tally on the fourth day of the "Muhamet Malo" ranking tournament in Tirana, Albania, bringing the nation’s total to six.
The highlight of the day was an all-Azerbaijani final in the 63 kg category. Ziya Babashov claimed the gold medal after a 1:1 draw against teammate Sakit Guliyev, winning on the "first point" principle. To reach the final, Babashov defeated opponents from Albania, Iran, and Kazakhstan, while Guliyev secured dominant victories over wrestlers from the USA, Kazakhstan, and Norway.
In the 67 kg category, Mahammad Shukurzade narrowly missed the podium. After fighting through the repechage round with a 12:3 victory over Ecuador’s Andres Arroyo, Shukurzade fell 1:2 to Georgia’s Joni Khetsuriani in the bronze medal match.
