Since February 28, approximately 36,000 US citizens have been evacuated from the Middle East, Tommy Pigott, the Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the United States Department of State, announced in a statement.

“We have organized 24 charter flights, and through the State Department’s 24/7 task force, provided direct assistance to more than 23,000 Americans abroad,” Pigott said.
He added that the US government continues to “work tirelessly to bring home every American who wishes to return.”
