6.8 magnitude earthquake hits western Mongolia

A magnitude 6.8 earthquake struck western Mongolia.

Axar.az reports that the information was released by the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The tremor occurred at 8:23 a.m. Baku time. Its epicenter was located approximately 400 kilometers from the Russia–Mongolia border and about 150 kilometers from Mongolia’s border with China.

The seismic intensity at the epicenter reached 9.1 on the MSK-64 scale.

No reports of casualties or damage have been received so far.
