The issue of restoring the Baku–Tbilisi–Baku passenger railway was discussed yesterday between the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the President of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.
Axar.az informs that this was stated by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, in comments to journalists.
“In line with the instructions given by the leaders of both countries, the relevant institutions are working in this direction. Today, the joint decision of both countries was presented to the public,” Hajiyev said.
He also commented on questions about how passenger transportation would be carried out while land borders remain closed.
“Work is continuing in this direction. We believe there are ways to ensure the restoration of railway passenger transportation between Georgia and Azerbaijan,” he added.
