A US Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance's security detail has been placed on administrative leave amid an internal investigation into the suspected leak of sensitive information about the vice president's travel, CNN reports, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The agency's internal affairs unit is leading the review after officials identified an individual believed to have disclosed information to the media, the sources said.
The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear whether the agent could face disciplinary action or criminal charges.
The suspected leak is linked to a recent report by MS NOW detailing concerns among members of Vance's security team over the demands of the vice president's personal travel schedule.
The report also included operational details about Vance's planned movements, including a trip with his son aboard a Marine Corps helicopter to a golf lesson that was later cancelled.
According to one source, the publication of the travel details drew criticism from the Secret Service, the FBI and White House officials, who were concerned that sensitive operational information had been disclosed.
The Secret Service has not publicly commented on the investigation, while MS NOW did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The inquiry comes as the Trump administration has intensified efforts to curb unauthorised disclosures to the media.
