An oil tanker exploded in the Strait of Hormuz after striking a naval mine outside Iran’s designated navigation route, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
The vessel hit the mine after departing from the Tehran-approved shipping corridor in the strategic waterway, the report added.
Iranian authorities have yet to officially comment on the incident.
