Drought triggers water restrictions across 70% of France

France faces severe water shortages amid extreme heat and drought.

Axar.az reports, citing Euronews, that France is experiencing severe water shortages due to unusually high temperatures and drought.

France’s Ministry for Ecological Transition said that water use has been restricted in 70% of the country:

“As France is experiencing a particularly severe drought, the effects of climate change continue to increase pressure on water resources. Nearly 70% of French territory is subject to restrictions on water use.”

It should be noted that over the past three months, France has experienced a series of heatwaves accompanied by high temperatures and a lack of rainfall. The extreme weather has already caused thousands of excess deaths and fuelled widespread wildfires.
