Trump says US still supplying weapons to Ukraine despite stockpile concerns

US President Donald Trump has said that Washington continues to supply arms to Ukraine, pushing back against reports of a suspension in military aid over concerns about dwindling American stockpiles.

Speaking to reporters at Andrews Air Force Base, Trump insisted that the United States remains committed to supporting Kyiv, Caliber.Az reports citing foreign media.

"We haven't [suspended supplies]. We're giving weapons, but we've given so many weapons," he said. "We are giving weapons and we're working with them and trying to help them. Biden emptied out our whole country, giving them weapons, and we have to make sure that we have enough for ourselves."

Trump's remarks follow growing speculation over a temporary halt in deliveries of certain US weapons systems. On July 1, the White House confirmed that the Pentagon had paused shipments of specific air defence missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine, citing the need to replenish its own reserves.

However, Kyiv has yet to receive formal notification of any suspension. Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence said it had requested a phone conversation with US counterparts to clarify the situation.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed the matter, saying Ukrainian officials are in communication with Washington.

"We are engaged at the working level to understand the nature of the delay and its potential impact on the battlefield," Zelenskyy stated.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged the US’s domestic concerns but urged continued transatlantic support for Ukraine.

"I understand the American administration's responsibility to safeguard national security, but sustaining support to Ukraine is critical for European and global stability," Rutte said during a press briefing in Brussels.

Meanwhile, the US State Department has distanced itself from the Pentagon’s decision, saying it had no involvement in logistics related to military assistance.
