Oil tankers are beginning to cross the Strait of Hormuz, White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett told CNBC.
Hassett noted that Iran’s attempts to disrupt shipping along the route have not harmed the U.S. economy.
“Tankers are gradually moving through the strait, and I think this shows how little leverage Iran actually has,” he said.
Hassett added that officials are optimistic about a short-term resolution, but noted that in the coming weeks, oil prices may be affected as shipments reach refineries.
