Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has officially dismissed reports suggesting that Russia intends to halt oil supplies through the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) to exert pressure on the United States, calling the claims "not true."
Axar.az reports, Peskov shifted the blame for regional energy instability toward Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of "energy blackmail."
"At the same time, Kyiv continues efforts to disable the CPC and continues to engage in energy blackmail," Peskov said.
He stated that Ukrainian drone strikes have repeatedly targeted CPC infrastructure, harming the interests of not only Russian and Kazakh companies but also American energy firms involved in the consortium.
The CPC pipeline system is the largest route for transporting oil from the Caspian region to global markets. The main pipeline, stretching 1,500 km, connects fields in Western Kazakhstan with Russia’s Black Sea coast, where oil is loaded onto tankers via the CPC marine terminal.
