A Greek citizen has been charged in the United Kingdom with assisting a foreign intelligence service allegedly linked to Iran, in connection with an attack on a journalist from London-based broadcaster Iran International.
According to Reuters, citing British police, the charges were brought under the National Security Act.
Counter-terrorism police said the 46-year-old Ioannis Aidinidis, who resides in Munich, was arrested on May 16 and charged with facilitating foreign intelligence activity.
Authorities said the case is linked to an attack on a journalist working for Iran International, a media outlet known for its critical coverage of Iran.
Police emphasised that they do not currently believe there is any broader threat to the public.
