Northern Cyprus PM hails Azerbaijan as "pride of the Turkic world"

Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Üstel has praised Azerbaijan as “the pride of the entire Turkic world”, highlighting what he described as deepening cultural and political ties among Turkic-speaking states.

Speaking at a media briefing during Northern Cyprus Culture Day in Baku, Üstel said relations between Türkiye, Azerbaijan and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus extend beyond traditional diplomacy and are rooted in shared identity.

“Our relations are an expression of brotherhood, unity and friendship,” Üstel said. “The ties between Türkiye, Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus go beyond diplomacy. They reflect a shared destiny and a shared culture.”

He described Azerbaijan’s National Salvation Day as a historic turning point in the country’s modern development, crediting it with laying the foundations for a stronger state.

“Thanks to this policy, Azerbaijan today stands as a strong state and a source of pride for the Turkic world,” he added.

Üstel also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s hospitality and the organisation of the cultural event, noting that Baku has consistently supported what he called “brotherly countries” through political and cultural engagement.
