A Ukrainian court has set bail at 6 million hryvnias ($130,000) for former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olha Stefanishyna.
Axar.az reports according to Suspilne, the court also ordered Stefanishyna to appear before detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) upon request, notify authorities of any change of residence, and refrain from contacting witnesses in the case. An anti-corruption prosecutor earlier proposed setting bail for Stefanishyna at Hr 13 million ($290,000).
Stefanishyna told the court that she and her family had received threats. She said she intends to continue working, though not in public office. She also said she does not have the money to post bail but plans to raise the funds and consult with her lawyers.
Stefanishyna is under investigation on suspicion of illicit enrichment and filing false asset declarations. Investigators allege that she failed to disclose two apartments in Kyiv, renovation expenses, rental housing costs, her use of a Mercedes-Benz, and payments for airline tickets and her mother's medical treatment.
