Kyiv declares Day of Mourning following deadly attack

Kyiv’s mayor, Vitaliy Klitschko, has confirmed that search and rescue operations are ongoing in the Darnytskyi district, where emergency services are clearing debris following a devastating attack.

At least 10 people have been killed in the incident, including three children. The youngest victim was just three years old.

In response, the city has declared August 29 a Day of Mourning. Flags will be lowered on all municipal buildings, and authorities have recommended that national flags on state and private buildings also be flown at half-mast.

All entertainment and leisure events in the city have been cancelled for the day as the capital honours the victims of the attack.
