Azerbaijani president's aide: Zangezur corridor to unlock full potential of Middle Corridor

Azerbaijan views the development of the Zangezur Corridor as a decisive step in strengthening the Middle Corridor’s role in Eurasian connectivity, Presidential Assistant Hikmet Hajiyev said during his visit to China.

Speaking to journalists, Hajiyev, who also heads the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, underlined the strategic importance of Azerbaijan-China cooperation in this context, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

He noted that the opening of the Zangezur Corridor, as envisaged in the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, would ensure a broader and more effective use of the Middle Corridor’s opportunities.

Hajiyev added that China plays a key role in making advanced technologies accessible, including for countries of the Global South. He highlighted that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China has grown by 40 percent, stressing that this growth is not the limit.

“Azerbaijan and China will continue to further develop bilateral economic and trade cooperation. This partnership also covers areas such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and digital transformation,” he said.
