BMW is recalling hundreds of thousands of cars worldwide due to a fire hazard.
Axar.az reports, citing Spiegel, that during inspections, it was found that the magnetic switch sometimes wears out significantly after numerous starts. As a result, the car is more difficult to start, and in some cases, it may not start at all. In addition, the possibility of a short circuit in the starter, which can lead to overheating, is not excluded.
According to some reports, the recall covers 575 thousand cars, but this has not been officially confirmed by the company. However, it is reported that the recall will cover about 28.6 thousand cars in Germany.
According to the report, this defect was found in BMW's 2-series coupe, several variants of the 3-series, 4-series, 5-series, 6-series "Gran Turismo", 7-series sedan, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 models.
The risk group includes cars with starter relays manufactured between July 2020 and July 2022. However, since the transportation times of cars may vary, it is not possible to determine the exact production period. In addition, this problem may also be detected in cars with a defective starter installed during subsequent repairs.
