The United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized European allies for not providing greater support in U.S. operations against Iran and suggested that reopening the Strait of Hormuz may be left to other countries.
Axar.az reports, citing Axios, Trump said nations such as the U.K. and France would need to “go to the Strait and just take it” themselves, while emphasizing that the United States has completed the hardest part of its military operations.
"All of those countries that can't get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He also criticized France for denying U.S. planes passage through its airspace carrying ammunition to Israel.
"France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the 'Butcher of Iran,' who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!" he wrote.
According to the report, several European countries, including Spain and Italy, have refused U.S. military access for operations in Iran, though the U.K. and France have supported limited cooperation, such as intercepting Iranian drones and missiles.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly highlighted that the U.S. seeks allied participation in a maritime task force to secure the Strait of Hormuz after the conflict, rather than relying on allies to reopen it during ongoing operations.
