The Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM) is set to review a draft international agreement on privileges and incentives for participants of the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31), which will be held in Antalya.
According to Azerbaijani state news agency AZERTAC, citing Turkish media, the document—agreed between Ankara and the United Nations—has already been submitted to parliament. Its approval would allow COP31 participants to benefit from simplified entry and exit procedures.
Turkish authorities are also expected to cover costs for the preparatory phase of the summit, scheduled for November 3–8 this year, including the provision of venues, facilities, equipment, infrastructure and related services free of charge.
The main segment of the UN climate summit is planned for November 9–20 in Türkiye’s “tourism capital,” organized in line with environmental management standards and principles of sustainable development.
Ankara has repeatedly emphasized the importance it attaches to climate discussions, which are expected to bring together more than 80,000 representatives from 196 countries.
