An AI-powered robot dog has entered service in Kazakhstan for the first time, assisting police during major public events in the Karaganda region.
The technology was tested during Metallurgist Day celebrations in the cities of Balkhash and Temirtau, which attracted more than 115,000 attendees, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
More than 1,000 police officers were deployed to ensure public safety, with the robot dog serving as a key technological asset integrated with law enforcement databases.
Authorities also placed special emphasis on child safety during the festivities. Police officers helped locate 87 children who became separated from their families in the large crowds and safely reunited them with their parents.
During its deployment, the robot dog assisted in identifying four individuals, including a Kazakh citizen who had been evading alimony payments, two people with outstanding state debts, and a previously convicted man who violated a court-imposed restriction on leaving his residence.
Police said all necessary legal measures were taken against the individuals identified during the operation.
