Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it has destroyed a six-member armed group near the country's northwestern border with Iraq.
Axar.az reports that, citing the IRGC Telegram channel, the group crossed into Iran's northwestern border region to carry out "sabotage and terrorist operations."
The IRGC said its forces ambushed the group in the mountainous area between Mahabad and Piranshahr, with support from heavy weapons fire. It said the six-member team was destroyed.
The statement added that the bodies of four of the group's members, along with various weapons and equipment, were recovered. It described the group as anti-state and separatist, but did not identify its affiliation.
