Eight killed due to electrocution in India

Eight workers died and five others were injured when a concrete mixer came into contact with an overhead high-tension power line during road construction in in India's western state of Rajasthan, on Monday.

Axar.az informs, citing local media, the power line touched the machine’s hydraulic jack while it was being used to mix gravel and sand. The resulting current electrocuted workers at the site, he said.

Villagers protested after the incident, alleging negligence by the administration and the electricity department.

They said power lines and poles were touching trees and claimed that no staff were available at the grid substation when they called to have the power supply switched off. The allegations could not be independently verified.
