Trump asked Putin to halt strikes on Kyiv until February 1

U.S. leader Donald Trump asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to refrain from strikes on Kyiv until February 1 “in order to create favorable conditions for negotiations,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists.

Axar.az informs, citing TASS, “Indeed, President Trump made a personal request to President Putin to refrain for one week, until February 1, from carrying out strikes on Kyiv in order to create favorable conditions for holding negotiations,” the Kremlin representative said.

Peskov declined to answer a question about what response Russia gave to Trump’s proposal to halt the strikes. “I have nothing to add to what has already been said,” he concluded.

Earlier, Trump said he had personally asked Putin for Russian forces to suspend strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities for one week due to record cold weather.
