COP31: The Road to Antalya - COP31 Climate High-Level Champion meets with youth

On March 14, Samed Ağırbaş, Türkiye's Climate High-Level Champion for COP31, visited the headquarters of the Non-Aligned Movement Youth Organization (NAMYO) in Baku.

Yalchin Rafiyev, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, COP29 Lead Negotiator, and Nigar Arpadarai, MP and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29, briefed Samed Ağırbaş on NAMYO’s activity.

Yalchin Rafiyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s unwavering commitment to international climate cooperation, emphasizing the importance of inclusive multilateral dialogue in addressing the urgent challenges posed by climate change.

Nigar Arpadarai pointed out the growing role of civil society in promoting climate policy. She stressed the significance of young people’s meaningful contributions to addressing climate issues and global sustainability initiatives.

Addressing the session on “COP31: The Road to Antalya,” Samed Ağırbaş highlighted the pivotal role of youth in addressing modern climate challenges. He underscored the growing influence of youth-led initiatives, innovations and cooperation in shaping the global climate agenda.

The event, held in a hybrid format, concluded with an interactive Q&A session.

During the session, NAMYO members and NAMYO National Chapter representatives had the opportunity to communicate directly with the speakers, sharing their views and discussing opportunities for meaningful youth engagement in climate action.
