Russia respects the choice of the Hungarian people and expects that pragmatic contacts between Moscow and Budapest will continue under Hungary’s new leadership, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.
Axar.az informs that, commenting on the results of the parliamentary elections, Peskov said: "Hungary has made its choice, we respect this choice, and we expect to continue our very pragmatic contacts with the new Hungarian leadership”.
“We have heard statements about readiness for dialogue, which of course will be beneficial for both Moscow and Budapest.”
Peskov also suggested waiting to see the next steps of Hungary’s new leadership.
“As for what actions the new Hungarian leadership will take, we probably need to be patient and see what happens. We are, once again, interested in building good relations with Hungary, as with all European countries. We know that with European countries, unfortunately, reciprocity is still lacking, but Russia remains open to dialogue,” he said.
It should be noted that in the parliamentary elections held on April 12 in Hungary, the ruling coalition of Prime Minister Viktor Orban lost, while the opposition Tisza Party led by Peter Magyar won.
