The Russian ambassador to Baku Mikhail Yevdokimov has spoken about Azerbaijan’s contribution to the victory over fascism.
Axar.az reports that this information was published on the official Telegram channel of the Russian Embassy.
“We recognize the contribution of the Azerbaijani people to the shared Victory. The sons and daughters of Azerbaijan fought selflessly shoulder to shoulder with representatives of other peoples of the Soviet Union against the enemy. Baku oil workers supplied the front with fuel: during the war years, more than 70% of all Soviet oil was produced in Azerbaijan,” the diplomat said.
Yevdokimov also noted that evacuation hospitals operated in Azerbaijan, where thousands of servicemen received treatment, and that a significant part of the military aid delivered under the Lend-Lease program passed through its territory.
