Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi will travel to Tehran later today.
Axar.az reports, citing IRNA, that a diplomatic source confirmed Naqvi is expected to depart for Iran from Lahore after returning from Kyrgyzstan, where he attended the meeting of interior ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The source also noted that Naqvi had recently held two meetings with his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, on the sidelines of the SCO Interior Ministers’ summit in Kyrgyzstan.
Pakistan has played a mediating role in ongoing diplomatic contacts related to Iran–US dialogue efforts, including previous rounds of indirect talks hosted in Islamabad.
It is stated that Naqvi will review a mechanism for reaching a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
