Immediately after reports emerged that Azerbaijani citizens had been killed and injured in a drone attack on cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, staff from the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia left for the area.
Axar.az reports that according to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, consular officials from the embassy are currently in the city of Yeysk, where they are providing assistance to injured and rescued Azerbaijani citizens. The condition of the injured is good, and several of them are expected to be discharged from hospital shortly.
As part of search and rescue operations being carried out by the relevant bodies of the Russian Federation, work continues to identify those killed and take other necessary measures.
At the same time, necessary measures are being taken to complete documentation procedures for the rescued Azerbaijani citizens, provide them with return certificates and organize their return to the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is keeping the matter under special control and is working in close coordination with the relevant bodies.
Additional information will be provided to the public regarding the identities of those killed and the repatriation of their bodies to Azerbaijan.
