Baku, July 30, AZERTAC
The Embassy of Morocco in Azerbaijan hosted a reception on July 30 to mark the country's national day, Throne Day.
The event began with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Morocco.
Moroccan Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammed Adil Embarch said in his remarks that friendly relations between Morocco and Azerbaijan continue to grow stronger year by year. He noted that the two countries share a solid partnership based on mutual respect, political trust, and commitment to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
According to the ambassador, political dialogue between the two countries has intensified, high-level contacts have increased, and bilateral cooperation has expanded to cover a growing number of areas.
"Economic and trade ties are expanding, while contacts between our peoples are becoming increasingly closer," he said.
The ambassador added that the agreement on visa-free travel has given fresh impetus to tourism and people-to-people exchanges, creating new opportunities for business, investment and mutual understanding.
Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli said that the Joint Commission on Bilateral Cooperation plays a special role in advancing relations between the two countries.
"The introduction of the visa-free regime has undoubtedly made an important contribution to expanding people-to-people contacts and developing tourism and business ties. It is encouraging that the number of tourists arriving in Azerbaijan from Morocco increased by 28 percent last year," he said.
Karimli noted that bilateral trade turnover had increased by 5 percent compared with the previous period.
"Beginning this year, under the relevant bilateral agreement, students from both countries will participate in reciprocal academic exchange programs. This positive momentum provides a favorable basis for further expanding economic, trade and investment cooperation between our countries and for making effective use of the existing potential," the minister said.
The reception continued with a banquet following the official speeches.
