Several people were injured after an armed man entered a secondary school in Fagersta, central Sweden, on Friday afternoon.
Axar.az reports, citing SVT, that the suspect, who was armed with a sword or machete, entered Brinellskolan shortly after 2 p.m. Police said they were alerted at 2:06 p.m. to an incident classified as ongoing deadly violence.
A suspect has been detained. According to reports, the man was shot in the leg by police.
Police deployed a large operation, including an armed response unit and a helicopter, while emergency crews worked at the scene. Authorities said there was no longer a danger to the public.
The number and severity of the injuries remained unclear. Students at Brinellskolan, which has nearly 500 pupils, were kept inside the building as police secured the premises. Students at several other schools in Fagersta were also kept indoors.
