Russian media outlets have widely covered Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Uzbekistan, highlighting the talks between the two leaders, the signing of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship, the expansion of economic, trade, and transport cooperation, as well as new joint projects between Baku and Tashkent.
The reports published by the TASS news agency, emphasized the importance of the Treaty on Eternal Friendship signed by Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, adding that the heads of state signed a program to increase mutual trade turnover to $1 billion, alongside the agreements on tourism and cultural cooperation.
Interfax news agency highlighted the outcomes of the negotiations and the third meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. According to the agency, the sides intend to further deepen strategic partnership and allied relations, expand industrial cooperation, as well as fully utilize the capabilities of the joint investment company.
The Russian publication "Vedomosti" mentioned that relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have reached a high level, noting the threefold increase in mutual trade over the past five years. The article also underscored joint projects in the fields of energy, chemical and mining industries, textiles, agriculture, and urban development, as well as plans to increase trade turnover between the two countries to $ 1 billion.
Several publications posted articles on President Ilham Aliyev's remarks on the development of transport routes, especially citing the head of state's quotes on the efforts to create the Zangezur Corridor in the territory of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, as well as the prospects for implementing the TRIPP project in the territory of Armenia.
The Russian media outlets also highlighted the special role of Uzbekistan in implementing projects in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including President Ilham Aliyev’s remarks that Uzbekistan was the first country to support the restoration of Garabagh, built a 960-seat secondary school, and invest in the establishment of a large garment production facility.
