Former Mauritanian Foreign Minister Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has been elected Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Axar.az reports, citing OIC's X account, that Ould Cheikh Ahmed was elected Secretary-General at an extraordinary meeting of OIC foreign ministers held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
