Sona Aghayeva, a member of Azerbaijan’s national boccia team, claimed the gold medal at the 2026 World Boccia Challenger held in Cairo, Egypt.
The BC2 category athlete defeated Mónica Costa of Portugal and Chloe Sturt of New Zealand on her way to the title.
The competition offers ranking points on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Paralympic Games.
