The Azerbaijan women’s basketball national team has parted ways with head coach Evren Alkaya.
Axar.az reports that, according to the Azerbaijan Basketball Federation (ABF), the cooperation between the parties ended by mutual agreement.
The Turkish coach, who had been working with the ABF since 2022, coached the senior women’s national team as well as the U-16, U-18 and U-20 girls’ national teams. During his tenure, he led the teams in more than 70 official FIBA matches as head coach.
Under his leadership, the U-16 women’s national team won the European Championship Division C title in 2023 and 2024, while the U-18 team won a silver medal in Division C in 2024.
