As part of a visit to Garabagh and East Zangezur, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan arrived in Khankendi.
Accompanied by Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, 150 representatives from 58 countries and nine international organizations are participating in the visit.
The representatives of the diplomatic corps toured the Khankendi Railway and Bus Terminal Complex.
The five-story facility will include two railway platforms and 12 bus stops. The new complex is located four kilometers from the city center.
The diplomats were informed that the Aghdam–Khankendi railway line, an extension of the Barda–Aghdam railway line, stretches for 28 kilometers.
The project envisages the construction of three stations—Asgaran and Khojaly stations, and the Khankendi Railway and Bus Terminal Complex—along with engineering structures, bridges, overpasses, and crossings for vehicles, pedestrians, and agricultural purposes. The project is scheduled for implementation in 2025–2026.
As part of the two-day visit, the diplomats will also visit Shusha, Aghdara, and Kalbajar.
They will be briefed on the ongoing redevelopment and construction efforts in the liberated territories, new social and economic infrastructure projects, as well as measures being taken to preserve and restore historical and cultural heritage.
