Azerbaijan’s AzerGold and Guinea explore prospects for cooperation in geological production

Baku, June 19, AZERTAC

Ilgar Jalilov, Member of the Executive Board and Deputy Chairman of AzerGold CJSC, met with a delegation led by Ismael Nabe, Minister of Planning, International Cooperation and Development of the Republic of Guinea, who is visiting Azerbaijan within the framework of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chairman provided detailed information on the company’s activities, achievements, and contributions to the national economy. The delegation was briefed on the work carried out by the company in accordance with international standards in the fields of geological exploration, mineral production, processing, and resource management, as well as on projects currently under implementation.

In his remarks, Ismael Nabe emphasized Guinea’s interest in expanding economic and institutional cooperation with Azerbaijan. He noted that his country is particularly interested in potential cooperation opportunities in the fields of geological exploration and mineral production, as well as personnel training and the exchange of expertise.

The Minister also highlighted the potential for cooperation in training highly qualified specialists in mining and geology through the Academy established under the Simandou iron ore project, a venture of strategic importance to the global steel industry.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to designate responsible representatives from both sides to assess prospective areas of cooperation and determine the next steps. The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
