Minister: Operating in Azerbaijan grants companies access to a broader regional market

Baku, July 15, AZERTAC

“Operating in Azerbaijan grants companies access to a broader regional market,” Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said at the Azerbaijan-Slovakia Business Forum.

The Minister noted that as a matter of state policy, our main priority is to increase the level of knowledge, experience, skills, and technologies, thereby ensuring the production of new competitive products in Azerbaijan: "To this end, we utilize various instruments and apply a risk-sharing approach. We have established institutions such as the Business Development Fund of Azerbaijan, which acts as a financial investor, takes on risks—including equity participation risks—functions as a minority shareholder-investor, and provides soft loans."

"At the same time, we utilize existing joint investment funds whose investment mandate covers investing both in Azerbaijan and the region, and their number is steadily growing. The joint investment funds established with Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan can serve as an important ecosystem for you—namely, for businesses that see and identify opportunities in various sectors," the Minister added.
