Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov named promising areas of cooperation at the Kyrgyz-Uzbek business forum “Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan: industrial cooperation, investments and trade”.
According to the minister, these include the development of heavy industry, machine building, pharmaceutical industries, as well as transport and logistics and industrial infrastructure, according to Kabar.
“Our common goal is to move from traditional trade to deep industrial cooperation, implement large investment projects and create modern production facilities that can compete in regional and global markets,” the minister noted.
The forum also paid special attention to the issues of localization of production, joint production of auto components, exchange of modern technologies, and creation of production chains aimed at the domestic market and export.
It is worth noting that in January-May 2026, trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan amounted to 440.8 million US dollars, an increase of 33.3 percent compared to the same period in 2025.
Imports reached 336.5 million US dollars, an increase of 1.7 times. Exports decreased by 20.3 percent and amounted to 104.3 million US dollars.
