School excursion bus crash in Georgia leaves one dead, several injured.
Axar.az reports, citing Georgian media, that a traffic accident involving two excursion minibuses occurred on the Rustavi–Tbilisi highway.
According to reports, the fatality is the driver of one of the minibuses. Several vehicles, including two school excursion minibuses, collided on the highway.
The excursion group included second-grade students from a public school in the village of Kesalo, Gardabani municipality. Witnesses said there were 17–18 children in one of the minibuses, with several sustaining minor injuries.
Injured children and the driver of a Mercedes vehicle were taken to Rustavi clinic by ambulance. Doctors stated that five injured children are not in life-threatening condition and have only minor injuries.
Three adults were also injured, two of them with fractures and requiring surgery.
An investigation has been launched under Article 276 of the Georgian Criminal Code.
