“Azerbaijan is Georgia’s neighbor and strategic partner. During Georgia’s independence, Azerbaijan has confirmed its strategic relations with us,” said Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party, while commenting on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Tbilisi, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, the visit of the Azerbaijani head of state to Georgia is of particular importance for further strengthening the existing relations.
“Azerbaijan has supported Georgia many times, even during difficult periods. Of course, the strategic pipelines passing from Azerbaijan through Georgia toward Türkiye and Europe are one of the proofs of this strategic partnership. Since then, special relations between the countries have continued and have further strengthened, especially in a situation where we all support peace processes in the Caucasus. I hope that lasting peace in the region will finally be established,” Sharmanashvili added.
