U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said that the United States will continue its policy of maximum pressure on Iran, including maintaining a blockade of Iranian ports.
Axar.az informs that in a post on his X account, Bessent said that the U.S. Navy will continue enforcing restrictions, adding that oil storage on Kharg Island would be filled within days and Iran’s oil production capacity would be significantly impacted.
He stated that limiting Iran’s maritime trade directly targets the country’s main sources of revenue.
Bessent also said the U.S. Treasury would continue its “maximum pressure” campaign under what he called “Economic Fury,” aimed at weakening Tehran’s ability to generate, move, and access funds.
He warned that individuals or vessels involved in facilitating such transactions through covert trade or financial channels risk facing U.S. sanctions.
"We continue to freeze the funds stolen by the corrupt leadership on behalf of the people of Iran," Bessent added.
