24 militants killed in security operations in NW Pakistan

Baku, July 17, AZERTAC

Pakistani security forces killed 24 militants during extensive intelligence-based operations in the country's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province over the past 24 hours, the military said on Friday, Xinhua reported.

The operations were launched following a recent surge in attacks by the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan targeting police personnel, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military, said in a statement.

The militants killed in the operations were allegedly involved in multiple terrorist activities and attacks that claimed the lives of security personnel and civilians.

Security forces also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, the statement added.

The ISPR said the operations would continue in the area to eliminate the remaining militants and bring those responsible for the recent attacks to justice.
