Qarabag midfielder Kady Borges has become the top scorer among players from Azerbaijani clubs in the UEFA Conference League.
Axar.az informs that according to the Professional Football League, the Brazilian midfielder achieved the feat by scoring his sixth goal in the competition.
He scored in Qarabag’s 1-0 away win over Dutch side Twente in the play-off round.
This was Kady Borges’ sixth goal in 17 appearances for Qarabag in the UEFA Conference League. His previous five goals came in the 2021/22 season. At the time, the midfielder scored once against Cyprus’ AEL in the third qualifying round and once against Scotland’s Aberdeen in the play-offs, twice against Cyprus’ Omonia in the group stage, and once against France’s Marseille in the play-offs.
Until now, three players had shared the record for most goals by an Azerbaijani club player in the UEFA Conference League. In addition to Kady, Joy-Lance Mickels scored five goals for Sabah, while Rafael Utzig scored five for both Gabala and Zira.
It should be noted that Kady Borges has now scored 11 goals for Qarabag in European competitions overall.
