Azerbaijan national team midfielder and captain Emin Mahmudov has decided to retire from international football.
Axar.az reports that the experienced player made the decision following consultations with the leadership of the national football federation.
The friendly match against Andorra, scheduled as part of the November training camp, will be Mahmudov's final appearance for the national team.
Mahmudov has represented Azerbaijan since 2016 and has scored 16 goals for the national team. With this tally, he surpassed the record previously held by Gurban Gurbanov to become Azerbaijan's all-time leading goalscorer.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan will face Liechtenstein in the UEFA Nations League on November 13 and play a friendly against Andorra on November 16 as part of their upcoming training camp.
