Turkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) has published a declassified archival document concerning the period when Iranian Islamic Revolution leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini resided in Turkiye.
Axar.az reports, citing Anadolu Agency, the document was published under MIT’s “Special Collection” section and includes a “Top Secret” dated November 11, 1964.
The document is an order sent to the Istanbul Central Directorate, signed by the head of the National Security Service, Ziya Selisik, stating that Khomeini stayed in Turkiye between November 4, 1964, and October 5, 1965 under MIT supervision.
It notes that Khomeini was to reside in Bursa, and that arrangements for his accommodation and related matters were to be handled by the Bursa unit. It also states that in official correspondence and communications, the code name “Belli” would be used for the Iranian guest.
