Kane, Mbappe and Yamal lead 2026 Ballon d’Or shortlist

Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal are among the 30 players nominated for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, with the shortlist announced Tuesday.

Axar.az reports, citing ESPN, that Kane was nominated after a prolific season with Bayern Munich and England, while Barcelona’s Yamal and Real Madrid forward Mbappe also made the cut following standout campaigns for club and country.

Lionel Messi has been nominated for the first time since 2023, when he won the award for a record-extending eighth time. Rodri, the 2024 winner, is also on the shortlist alongside his Barcelona teammates Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.

The complete 30-player shortlist is: Jude Bellingham, Pau Cubarsi, Marc Cucurella, Ousmane Dembele, Luis Diaz, Bruno Fernandes, Gabriel, Erling Haaland, Achraf Hakimi, Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lamine Yamal, Sadio Mane, Marquinhos, Lautaro Martinez, Kylian Mbappe, Nuno Mendes, Lionel Messi, Joao Neves, Michael Olise, Willian Pacho, Julian Quinones, Declan Rice, Rodri, Fabian Ruiz, William Saliba, Ferran Torres, Dayot Upamecano, Vinicius Jr. and Vitinha.

Paris Saint-Germain have the most nominees with 10, while LaLiga clubs have seven and the Premier League has four.

The winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Oct. 26. PSG, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Flamengo and Bodo/Glimt are nominated for men’s club of the year.

Luis Enrique, Vincent Kompany, Mikel Arteta, Luis de la Fuente and Unai Emery are shortlisted for manager of the year, while Yassine Bounou, Thibaut Courtois, Joan García, Gregor Kobel, Emiliano Martinez, Edouard Mendy, David Raya, Matvey Safonov, Vozinha and Unai Simon are nominated for goalkeeper of the year.

The Young Talent of the Year shortlist features Kerim Alajbegovic, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Pau Cubarsí, Yan Diomande, Lennart Karl, Eli Junior Kroupi, Lamine Yamal, Johan Manzambi, Ibrahim Maza and Warren Zaire-Emery.
